"This really is a great vehicle to be speaking about really delicious items," Mathews said.  "Under these circumstances, it's really great.   Something that's not so massive in scale that it's not overwhelming, but just feels fun.  It will not get much more pleasure than cupcakes." 
Mathews said she started working on the publication in late Fall of 2019 and to Winter 2020.  She tested many of the recipes through cheer and basketball seasons for her kids, bringing cupcakes for parents and teammates. 
"I was thrilled, back to be around groups of a lot of people and they could give me comments or simply eat all the additional cupcakes," she said.  
Mathews admits she didn't have any idea about what the environment would be when Cupcake Cookbook for Kids came out.  She said she normally does a lot of in-person occasions to advertise the release.  But COVID-19 has forced her to find creative in exploring new ways to advertise the book.
"We've been shooting a set of videos with my children and mepersonally," Mathews said.  "Sometimes it's us all, at times it's only one.  We are doing another one today where we're making the cupcakes.  Every video is about 5 minutes.  And it is a great deal of kids spilling stuffI explaining measurements on bundles, and other little tips.  But also, it's pretty realistic.  It is intended to be entertaining.  This moment reminds me of writing using a toddler on a plane where you are only moving in thickly segments.  Here is another activity.  Here's another action.  Just trying to keep everybody calm and entertained and still enjoy yourself."
